a book review

so while i've been bundled up at home with baird, i've had quite a bit of spare time on my hands. although he does eat, pee, poop, and sleep on about a 2.5 hour cycle, there is usually an hour or so within each cycle for me to clean up around the house, do laundry, dishes, etc. when these things are all done, i even have time to read. on a run to babiesrus a couple of nights ago, i picked up a copy of this...

The Nursing Mother's Companion
Kathleen Huggins

i recommend it to any new or soon-to-be moms who are planning on breastfeeding or who are even considering it as an option. there are so many helpful sections of the book, including:

* breast feeding basics
* common problems with breast feeding
* nursing the infant
* nursing the older baby
* nursing the toddler
* breast feeding and pumping
* ways to increase your milk supply
* storing breast milk
* breast feeding and returning back to work

because i have to go back to work soon, i found the sections on pumping and returning to work particularly helpful. i know it won't be easy to continue breast feeding once i go back to work and am away from my precious baby all day long, but the tips given in this book really did make it seem possible.

for those of you who are curious, this website has also been extremely helpful too with tons of tips on breastfeeding, pumping, and returning to work.

hope this helps some of you as much as it helped me :)

love,
maggie

Oh thank you very much! I was just thinking that I should get a breast feeding book since I opted not to take a class!

AWESOME book! I read a lot while I was nursing my first and that was one of my favorites.
