weekend wrap-up

well had a really wonderful weekend celebrating the graduation of two very special people, spending time with our precious baby boy, and being super productive around the house.

on friday we went to a graduation party for one of our best friend steven, who graduated from Texas Wesleyan Law School on friday. although the majority of the people that were there were his family, we had a great time and are so proud of him! on saturday, we worked around the house during the morning and then went to joe t's for mandee, my step-sister's, graduation dinner. she graduated from UNT saturday afternoon and we could not be more proud of her either! and i must note that joe t's has THE BEST margaritas in fort worth hands down. after dinner we headed home and had a quiet evening at home!

today we were super productive around the house. griffin mowed the lawn this morning and did lots of work on the yard, while i did the dishes, took the trash out, and swept the floors! after that, we headed to the grocery store to do some mega-grocery-shopping! i decided that instead of going to the grocery store every sunday, it made much more sense to go every other sunday and to shop for two weeks worth of groceries when we went. we configured how many lunches and dinners we would need and shopped according to our list. when we got home from the store, we had left-over fajitas from joe t's and then we got to work cleaning out the garage. griffin hung things on the wall while i swept, and we made a large junk pile that we are going to take to the dump next saturday. and where was baird while all of this was going on? don't worry, he never left my side...

we also got some work done on the back porch and in the mud room, both of which i am determined to get to when school is out in a few short weeks.

we also did a couple of quick projects inside the house. on the chandelier that we diyed way back when, we decided to add a little texture to the rod that suspends from the ceiling and attaches to the lamp shade. i had some jute string lying around so we tied it in a knot at the top, wrapped it around and around and around and around, and then tied it off at the bottom. for a 5 minute project that was free, we love the way it turned out and think it adds an extra layer of texture in the room.

{before}

{and afters}

anywho, we had a wonderful weekend and i hope each of you did as well! our plans for the remainder of the evening include a home cooked meal, laundry, and the 2 hour season finale of desperate housewives.

love,
