a weekend recap

well another weekend came and went and we definitely got a lot of stuff done around the house. friday night we went to love shack for some burgers with katie and jordan and then went back to their house to hang out for a bit. i know i've said it before, but i really don't know what we did before we became such good friends with them. totally love them.

on saturday we ate breakfast at fuzzys for the first time and, although it was a little pricey for what you get, $15.00 for two breakfast burritos and two drinks, the burrito was massive and delicious. while griffin spent the morning painting the kitchen, i did some bargain shopping around fort worth, searching for christmas decorations and any good deals i could find on the spode christmas tree dishes that i asked for for christmas. i found the dinner plates for $6.99 a piece at steinmart, which is a steal, and the salad plates at tj maxx for the same price, also a steal. they both sell msrp for about $40 a plate. because my mom doesn't live in fort worth, i went ahead and picked up 12 of each and she picked them up from me today at work so she could wrap them and i can act surprised on christmas morning.

i spent the afternoon shopping around with katie and her mom for christmas decorations and, although she found quite a few good things, i just couldn't figure out which direction i wanted to go with our holiday decor. i love neutral but i am also extremely traditional when it comes to christmas decor. i did, however, pick up some red and gold christmas balls at hobby lobby for, of course, 50% off.

saturday night katie, jordan, graham, and amy came over to watch the baylor game. although they lost, they did put up a good fight. after the game, we went over to kally and austin's house to watch the pacquio vs margarito fight. although i'm not really a fan of boxing, i have to admit that it was really exciting to watch.

we went to church sunday morning with katie and jordan. although i'm not ready to share quite yet, i do think we are getting close to finding a church home. i love where we have been attending and think it might be the right compromise for griffin and i. and katie and jordan love it too which is a plus. after church griffin and i ran to target and a few other places. although i didn't purchase many ornaments the day before, i did find a round table-cloth that i knew would be perfect in our house. i had been looking for tree skirts forever and could never find one that i liked. when katie's mom had the idea of using a round-table cloth, i jumped on the idea.

i spent the afternoon cleaning the house while griffin went to his flag-football game. when he got home, we decided to run to walmart and garden ridge to compare christmas tree quality/prices. we ended up buying one at garden ridge for $99 (originally $199), but also found tons of ornaments at walmart that we loved for only $1.00 a piece. we were so excited when we got home with everything that we, drum-roll please...

PUT UP OUR CHRISTMAS TREE TWO WEEKS BEFORE THANKSGIVING.

i know it is a bit ridiculous and some might even argue compulsive, but we aren't having anyone over for thanksgiving, we will most likely be in granbury the majority of thanksgiving week, and to be quite honest, we were too stinking excited. make fun if you want, but i know you are jealous. i'll post pictures some time during the next couple of weeks once we get the rest of the christmas decorations up.

now i am just hoping this week flies by. i am more than ready for a week off from work and school. i've got lots of things to do around the house before little baird makes his debut in 8 weeks. and yes, we are still working on the kitchen. the cabinets have been primed and painted, but we still have some work to do. kitchen remodels are. the. worst.

hope everyone had a wonderful monday :)

love,
maggie

I've already taken most of my fall things down and came really close this weekend to getting out all of our Christmas stuff...I didn't...but I thought about it :)

Love it. If Will was here (he's out of town right now) I can promise you at lease SOME of our decorations would be up. I'm getting my Christmas fix in by decorating my classroom room this week though. Hopefully that will hold me over until after the Thanksgiving festivities are over!

I can't believe it's just 8 more weeks!!!!!
