Saving some $moolah$

As I was stalking my usual blogs today, I read a post about saving money. While the main focus of their blog is home renovation and diy related things, today they blogged about how they actually afford all of these things. Because Griffin and I are always trying to save better, my home-decor shopping sprees don't help, I found this post particularly helpful.

Anyways, if you are interested, check it out! After reading it, I felt inspired to set some financial goals for our little family!

Things we are going to try and do to save more/spend less:

1) Have my sister-in-law cut my hair instead of spending 50+ buckaroos every 2 months!

2) Stop my weekday morning Sonic ritual - although it will be hard, it will save almost $40 a month!

3) Implement the envelope system for dining out - because this is where the majority of our $ goes each month after standard bills, I think this will be huge!

4) Downgrade our cable package to one with channels we actually watch. We have the highest cable package and we watch the most basic channels - in the end this will probably save us around $75!

5) Griffin is going to start changing the oil in our cars - after getting my oil changed in my Jetta the other day for the first time, it cost almost $80 because it requires synthetic oil, we decided that it makes the most sense for Griffin to change it himself. Plus, he loves cars and it always outside working on his toy jeep. Don't know how to change it yourself? I looked it up and it actually looks quite easy. And to make it even more worth it, it saves, on average, $100 per year per car... and that is just for standard oil. Check out this website for more info.

Anyways, these are some simple ways we are going to try to save more/spend less. Hope the article inspires you as much as it did me!

Love,
Maggie
