before and after: a preliminary kitchen reveal

while i hate to post pictures before things are perfected to my liking, i'm not really sure when that might be so i figured i might as well go ahead and post the before and after shots, along with some details, of the kitchen.

project breakdown: 

1) primed and painted the kitchen cabinets

2) sanded and painted the laminate countertops with countertop paint from lowes

3) measure, cut, and installed the beadboard backsplash

4) painted the chalkboard wall

5) painted and installed trim on the backsplash and the chalkboard wall

6) spray painted the chandelier and wine rack

7) diyed curtain panels we had from our previous house to work on the smaller kitchen windows

8) installed all new outlets and outlet covers for a fresh look

cost breakdown: 

1) paint (white for cabinets, black for chalkboard, and countertop paint)- $55 

2) new hinges for all of the doors - $25

3) beadboard backsplash - free from previous dining room project

4) trim for beadboard and caulk - $18 

5) new outlets and outlet covers - $15

6) black spray paint for chandelier above sink and wine racks - $3 total for 3 cans

7) tension rods for curtains - $5 total for both

8) door pulls - free from original kitchen
9) window treatments for above sink - free from previous house

10) accessories - all existing except for the clock, which was a christmas gift from my mom

total investment = approximately $121

not too shabby considering the transformation don't you think? there are still a few things i want to get for the room, including a jute rug and maybe a few accessories here and there. o, and did you notice the wine refrigerator my wonderful husband built-in to the cabinetry below the wine racks? i love the added little touch. although i did do my share in the kitchen, i have to attribute the majority of the work to griffin. he worked his little tail off, particularly on projects where i couldn't help, and was able to get it all done before the baby came. 

and yes, for those of you who are curious... we are still waiting on baird!!
