days ten through twelve and a weekend recap

sorry i was totally mia towards the end of the week. things were absolutely crazy at school and griffin and i were getting ready to go out of town for the weekend. he went on his annual hunting trip with a few of his good friends from baylor and i went to madisonville to see my two college besties whitney and ashley. whitney is getting married in july and she had a holiday shower this weekend. it's funny because before her shower, i never even considered registering for christmas dishes when i got married. i really wish i would have because she got tons of cute stuff, including the whole christmas tree spode collection, which i am getting this year for christmas. we had a wonderful time catching up and when leaving, we realized that the next time i see the two of them i'll be a mommy :) they're planning on coming up the second weekend of January to see baby baird.

today i had my last of three baby showers, and we had such a wonderful time. i got tons of cute stuff and could seriously not be more grateful for the amazing people in my life. i'm going to dedicate an entire post to this hopefully tomorrow so this is all for now.

day 10: favorite christmas songs/carols

day 11: new years resolutions
i'm not usually one for new years resolutions and since i literally have no idea what to expect during this first year of parenthood, i am a little hesitant to make definitive statements. my new years resolution is to be the best parent to baird that i can be, realizing that i don't have all the answers, that i am not expected to know all the answers, and that i am definitely going to make mistakes along the way. learning to balance work and being  a mom is something that i have great fear about and it is my hope that i am able to figure this out through tons of prayer and guidance.

and although i have not made an official new years resolution list, i have made a list of things i want to get done before baird gets here, which is rather soon so it seems...

{one} purchase the few things i have left on my registry that griffin and i deem as necessary
{two} wash all of baird's clothes
{three} finish my christmas shopping
{four} finish the kitchen:

• finish touching up the white cabinet paint
• install beadboard backsplash 
• refinish the countertops 
• purchase the perfect rug for the kitchen floor
• diy our chalkboard wall
• purchasing an oversized wall clock (in either black or a galvanized steel finish)
