day nine: not yo' mama's banana pudding

{day nine} = favorite holiday recipe

although i am definitely not a cook, on rare occasions, i do cook. although griffin grew up eating banana pudding, we didn't eat it much around our house. for some reason the consistency always kinda grossed me out. plus with all of us girls, we usually stuck to chocolate. the first time i had my mother-in-laws banana pudding, everything changed. it is now one of my favorite things to eat and, on occasion, i'll even make it :) 

it is called not yo' mama's banana pudding, for a reason i cannot really remember at this time. maybe carol (my wonderful MIL) will leave a comment reminding me why!! 

so without further adieu...

not yo' mama's banana pudding:

2 bags pepperidge farm chessman cookies

6 to 8 bananas sliced

2 cups milk

1 (5 ounce) box instant french vanilla pudding

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 

1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed

Line the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top. In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using an electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
