well after a long, difficult week, griffin and i welcomed the weekend with open arms. with working on the kitchen being the only thing on our agenda, we anticipated a relaxing/productive weekend and we received just that. after a long day, we didn't get home from granbury until late friday evening. we grabbed dinner and i was fast asleep by 10:00 :) on saturday, i went to midlothian for the morning while my mom, sister, and her her mother-in-law made cooper's crib bedding. although i would like to say i was tons of help, i didn't really do much except for take pins out and cut a few things. it was fun to spend time with them though and although the bedding isn't done yet, i can already tell it is going to be super cute. while i was galivating with the girls, griffin was at home working hard. because things have been so busy around our house, we had kind of let the yard go. he trimmed trees, raked leaves, and had it all cleaned up by the time i got home. we went over to hastings and lori's house on saturday night and went to lunch on sunday with my dad and cynthia, amanda and ryan, mandee and charlie, and brandon and his new girlfriend. we also ran by baby gap and snagged a couple pairs of pants... all for the tune of $20!
between everything else this weekend, we also were able to make tons of kitchen progress. i had intended on posting pictures as we went along, but things have been too crazy around here. we measured and cut the beadboard on saturday for the backsplash and made touchups on the wall paint as well. on sunday we got an early start and went to lowes to pick up the countertop paint, chalkboard paint, and new outlet covers. after lunch with my family, we set out to do the countertops. as i mentioned earlier, we are trying to remodel this kitchen on a shoe-string budget. although we would definitely love new granite or marble countertops, we decided to try the laminate countertop paint that they sell at lowe's just to see if it works. we put the first coat on last night and i am already so impressed with how good it looks... although it is super stinky so i recommend doing it before you leave your house for a few hours. we are going to put on the second coat tonight, and hopefully complete our chalkboard project and put the two coats of paint on the beadboard! busy i know... but i want to be done by the time baird gets here!!
thats about all we did this weekend! i hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a marvelous monday!! i go in for a sonogram tomorrow so hopefully i come back with more news on how the baby is doing/progressing!!
love,
maggie
