travel memorabilia: vacations in a vase

i got this idea from the wonderful younghouselove a couple of years ago and thought it was a great way to remember the wonderful vacations that griffin and i go on together. we bought the vase at home goods for $7.00 and every time we are on vacation, we find a postcard that we think represents the location of where we are the best. then, on the back of the postcard, we right where we were, what the dates were, who we were with, and what the highlights were of the trip. we try to do it on the plane ride home so we don't forget any of the details. i put some brown rice in the bottom of the vase just for a filler. i think this is a great way to remember your vacations and it definitely is a conversation-starter at our house.

as you can see from the pictures, the only trip we don't have a postcard for it from our honeymoon because we started this little trend a few months afterwards. and as you can see, we only do this for big trips. for example, we didn't purchase a postcard when we went to houston for a wedding last year.

anyways, what do you guys think?

and do you have any cool ideas for remembering your vacations?

also, i love that my friend emily makes pictures books after each trip. i think i am going to start this trend in the next couple of weeks.

love,
maggie

love the postcard with all the details written down! so far from our trips we've collected a frame from our honeymooon (displayed with a picture of us in hawaii) as well as christmas ornaments & postcards. i think i'm going to use the postcards to make some coasters (if i can remember which magazine i saw the idea in!)

I LOVE this idea! It's so simple, but great for memories.
We buy a Christmas ornament on each of our big trips and try to have the location and date on it. Then, when we decorate our tree each year, we remember our fun adventures. :)
